Master Ko Baek-yong

Master Ko Baek-yong passed away three years ago on October 5, 2017. This year on October 3 will we honor him, as we do every year, with a special training assignment. We ask the members of our organisation to add the following to their training on that day:

  • 100 Jeonhwanbeop (circle steps)
  • 100 Yeongnyubeop (flow steps)
  • 100 Simhwanbeop (harmony steps)

Master Ko Baek-yong always stressed the importance of practicing and refining your basic skills. He himself did this by doing 1000 jeonhwanbeop every day for a long period.

Grind an axe to make a needle

There is a Korean saying that says ‘ma bu jak chim’ (마부작침(磨斧作針)). Meaning: To make a needle by grinding an axe. The expression implies that you can achieve something eventually if you endure however difficult the obstacles are, and work really hard.

Share

If you want to you can share your training on social media. Please use the hashtag #hankimuye if you do so.
